Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced senior professional to join our team as Head of Markets. You will have a deep understanding of Irish market conditions and be extremely well connected in the industry. You will identify opportunities, analyse market trends, seek out potential growth areas, and advise of any inhibitors to our pipeline. In this exciting and pivotal role, your insights and intel will support our leadership team in shaping our business strategy and growing our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide informed, timely market intel and insights to our leadership team.
- Identify new business opportunities within our three segments, and connect the dots across activity in real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resources.
- Understand our key differentiators and advise how best we respond to market conditions in an agile manner.
- Provide expert knowledge and early advice on government policy and its potential impact, and opportunities.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the client base, including investment plans and external factors that may impact these plans, including government sectors.
- Hold a thorough understanding of our competitors and their strategies, including mergers, acquisitions, bidding, pricing, alliancing, new entrants.
- Maintain solid oversight of key industry figures or ‘movers and shakers’.
- Develop a clear and visible 3-5 year pipeline of investment opportunities to feed into individual sector business plans, providing challenge in respect to ambition and coverage.
- Engage with industry bodies such as APM, SCSI, IRM, Eng Ire, WIN, etc.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide weekly updates to the board on trends gleaned from client visits, government department visits, conferences, newspapers, and industry press.
- Present articulate, competent, and professional discussions and reports at board meetings to demonstrate leadership and deep market understanding.
- Support Cost Centre Leads with industry insights and publications.
- Spend the majority of time outward-facing, meeting with clients and industry stakeholders.
- Support and leverage our local and global publications such as the Republic of Ireland Market Intelligence report.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., MRICS, PMP) is preferred.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in a senior leadership role within the construction industry, more specifically within real estate, infrastructure and/or energy and natural resources sectors.
- Strong reputation within the industry and personal gravitas.
- Excellent networking and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Client-focused mindset with a track record of delivering value.
- Strong strategic thinking with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of key industries, the regulatory environment, stakeholders and industry trends.
