A Brief Overview
The Head of Traditional Valuation – EMEA is a 12 month position overseeing the valuation of traditional business across the region. Responsibilities include leading the local Heads of Valuation, ensuring the delivery of financial results, insights and recommendations, improving processes and models, and collaborating with local and global teams.
Candidates should have a strong actuarial financial reporting background, with analytical abilities, strong communication and leadership skills. They also have experience in identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline processes. Across all areas of work, they will maintain the company’s culture and work with all stakeholders to deliver quality and timely work. The role requires effective stakeholder engagement, strong communication and organisational skills.
What you will do
- Lead three local traditional valuation teams in the EMEA region.
- Ensure the timely and quality delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports across relevant reporting bases, collaborating with business and finance leads both locally and globally as relevant.
- Analyse and interpret results, providing insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Review and propose updated valuation assumptions for the EMEA traditional business.
- Drive the delivery of EMEA’s traditional business financial plan and other internal reporting initiatives.
- Drive the development of standardized analytics across relevant teams.
- Collaborate with others to identify, prioritize, and implement process and model improvements, seeking consistency, efficiency, and automation opportunities.
- Drive the implementation of enhanced tools where appropriate, ensuring appropriate training, controls and governance.
- Ensure compliance with local and global policies, including SOX requirements.
- Foster a positive and engaged work environment, including mentoring and developing associates.
- Support the Chief Valuation Actuary, EMEA, by providing business knowledge, summary analytics and additional data and analysis as requested.
Qualifications
- Fellow of a recognized actuarial organization.
- Experience in the life insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Experience in the management of valuation reporting for traditional business.
- Experience in assessing, prioritising and leading model and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience in managing direct reports across different locations.
- US GAAP valuation reporting experience an advantage.
