We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Officer/Executive to join our growing team and ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance across our projects in Galway.
Responsibilities:
Ensure company-wide adherence to QEHS policies and procedures across all active sites.
Maintain up-to-date safety documentation using Hammertech (training provided), including inductions, audits, safety records, and compliance logs.
Conduct frequent health & safety audits and inspections, promptly addressing and following up on any issues.
Deliver clear, practical guidance and training to site teams, subcontractors, and senior management.
Manage all construction-stage H&S documentation including method statements, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
Monitor employee certifications and ensure all plant/machinery is properly calibrated and certified.
Lead investigations into incidents or near misses and produce detailed reports with recommendations.
Work closely with site managers to proactively manage high-risk activities and promote a strong safety culture.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in a similar H&S role, ideally with a main contractor.
Degree or higher qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
Comprehensive understanding of Irish construction H&S legislation and best practices.
Track record of promoting and implementing improvements in safety performance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with excellent report-writing abilities.
Confident in using IT systems including Microsoft Office.
Full Irish driving licence.
