Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a HSE Manager, responsible for General Environmental and Employee Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the environment (including the broader community impacted by environmental hazards) and employees including: Creating and implementing health, safety, occupational and environmental programs to prevent injuries and illnesses within the workplace and environmental accidents; Inspecting workplace and environmental incidents in accordance with company procedures and implementing corrective actions; Ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements related to environmental and employee health and safety and identifying areas for improvement; Developing and managing an environmental and employee health & safety training plan; Maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization.

How you'll make an impact:
- Support the development of the Hitachi Energy and Grid Integration (GI) HSE Strategies and drive the implementation in line with business needs and directives. Act as a role model to support a HSE learning and improving culture. Influence Hitachi Energy employees to ensure the correct thinking and decision making that is required to support the implementation and execution of HSE strategy and related tactics. Act independently as an internal advocate for customers in HSE-related issues and decisions. Represent the HSE function within their area of responsibility, by coaching and guiding their teams and colleagues in HSE methods and tools. Drive behavioural change through implementing Hitachi Energy improvement programs and practices to ensure an exemplary HSE culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout their area of responsibility.
- Analyze HSE incidents happening withing their area of responsibility to identify trends and priorities. Ensure HSE incidents management processes and workflows are implemented in their area. Feedback on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across Hitachi Energy to management and employees. Report on HSE and sustainability performance and progress on implementation of Hitachi Energy and GI HSE objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs), as required. Leverage the Global Function digital tools to deep dive into their area HSE performance and drive improvement programs accordingly.
- Stay up to date with new laws, regulations and industry trends affecting Hitachi Energy in terms of HSE and assist in developing standards and programs as needed. Lead HSE capability development, HSE workforce management, footprint, and succession planning within their area of responsibility. Identify, plan and initiate upskilling/training needs, e.g., for employees, contractors, and facilitates delivery. Participate in defining the annual budget for HSE in their area and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints. Support compliance with Sustainability, security and crisis management processes.
- Implement Hitachi Energy HSE standards and programs. Support the audit of their area of responsibility whenever identified in the Hitachi Energy program for internal functional audit. Assist senior management in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to applicable HSE laws and Hitachi Energy standards and programs. Ensure that HSE risk assessments in their area of responsibility are conducted by line management involving frontline employees, i.e., those directly concerned by the hazards. Drive and ensure adherence to the Hitachi Energy HSE and Sustainability Operating System.
- Represent Hitachi Energy, in terms of HSE and Sustainability for the area of responsibility, in front of external stakeholders, when needed and requested by senior management. Coordinate with stakeholders to gather feedback, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes to enhance HSE performance. Provide insights and feedback to the Global HSE Leadership team to support continual improvement efforts and ensure alignment between global strategies and market requirements. Drive towards a learning organization by enhancing lessons learned and best practices. Engage external (e.g., customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment on Hitachi Energy’s HSE efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback. Cooperate with other functions, the Global Function and business partners to enhance performance. Drive behavioral change through developing and implementing improvement programs and practices within the area of responsibility.
- Develop and report on project HSE and Sustainability objectives. Manage project HSE resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.
Your Background:
- Proven experience as a Health, Safety and Environment Manager.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish Health and Safety legislation and best practices.
- Strong Organizational , leadership and communication skills
- Experience working within high-profile, regulated environments
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
