MooreHaven was founded in 1981 to provide a day service for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Today, the service provides day and residential services to over 120 service users and their families through the work of over 80 staff. MooreHaven currently has day facilities in Tipperary Town and Cashel and five residential homes in Tipperary Town.

The role
The role is an Instructor/Supervisor in our Day Service Hub based in the Excel Centre in Tipperary Town. The role is Full Time (31 Hours) and a permanent contract.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The instructor/supervisor will be responsible for a group of service users with varying and complex needs. They will
· Promote PCP system, ensuring the best possible outcome for each individual in each aspect of their life in line with the 12 supports of New Directions.
· Work with individuals to help them identify their future aspirations and current support needs and consider how these can be best met.
· As part of the team, examine the potential for social networks and friendships and support the individual in further developing real relationships of their own, hobbies and interests of their own, and putting in any training which would be supportive of this.
· Actively seek out and foster a good respectful relationship for the individual within his/her own community.
· It is essential to foster at all times a good working relationship with the individual and his/her family.
· Have ability to liaise effectively with the community and other relevant stakeholders & agencies.
· Co-operate on all aspects of programmes with colleagues and facilitate reporting at Person Centred Planning (PCP) meetings.
· Support the individual to develop skills for independent living if requested through their PCP.
· Develop and deliver programme modules of training related to the individual needs and abilities of the people in the group.
· Use imagination, initiative and creativity in the implementation and delivery of the training programme.
· Encourage and ensure the participation of the service users in the programme with a view to providing them with skills which may benefit them in sourcing employment.
· Monitor and discuss service users’ progress with other staff as appropriate.
· Keep all training records as may be required by the accrediting body/bodies.
· Adhere to the policies and quality documents with regard to any outings. (Risk assess with regard to staff /service user ratios).
· Reports any accidents/incidents to line manager and complete the relevant paperwork.
· Make suggestions on improvements to the programme to get engagement / involvement of the service users.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. The post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post when in office. This job description may change in line with the changing needs of service users and objectives of the MooreHaven Centre in line with National Policy. Staff will be consulted regarding such changes.
Skills and Qualifications
Leaving certificate.
QQI Level 6 Qualification in Disability Studies, Healthcare or similar and/or
QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer
Minimum 6 months working in a similar role working with adults with an intellectual disability.
A high level of IT and administrative skills.
A full clean Irish/EU Driving Licence.

Must be familiar with new developments in the field of Intellectual disabilities/HIQA standards and any other relevant guidelines and policies pertaining to the role.
