We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative with comprehensive maintenance experience, ideally gained within the hotel sector. You will have strong analytical and technical skills and be comfortable handling a wide range of tasks, including repairs, replacements, and general upkeep activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate closely with the Accommodation and Front Office Departments.
- Receive and investigate maintenance reports, including guest feedback, to determine causes of issues.
- Schedule, plan, and prioritise maintenance works, including preventative maintenance.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance needs.
- Complete tasks efficiently, competently, and cost-effectively within budget and in accordance with hotel, manufacturer, and statutory standards.
- Ensure all necessary resources are in place before starting work.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers, agreeing quotes and scopes of work in advance.
- Coordinate contractor activities on hotel property.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring compliance with statutory, health, safety, hygiene, and fire regulations.
- Maintain complete and accurate checklists and service records, including statutory documents.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Work safely at all times in accordance with training, qualifications, and health & safety obligations.
- Support energy consumption monitoring and promote energy-awareness within the hotel.
- Anticipate and exceed guest and client expectations while minimizing disruptions during maintenance work.
- Communicate relevant information clearly and promptly to Departmental Managers and Senior Management.
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in general maintenance, preferably in hotel/hospitality settings.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair a broad range of maintenance issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labour and lift heavy objects.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.

- Hands-on technical competence with systems including electrical, HVAC, sewage, plumbing, heating, and lighting.
