We’re Hiring, Stick Tank Welder (SMAW – Shielded Metal Arc Welding)

About the Role:
We are currently seeking experienced Stick Tank Welders proficient in SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) for tank fabrication and installation on an industrial site.
This role is critical for the structural integrity and safety of pressure vessels, tanks, and related components. Candidates must demonstrate high welding standards, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform SMAW (stick welding) on carbon steel and/or stainless steel tanks.
- Interpret and follow engineering drawings, welding procedures (WPS), and job specifications.
- Carry out prep work, fit-up, and positional welding on tank sections (including vertical and overhead).
- Inspect and test welds to ensure quality and code compliance.
- Maintain welding equipment and adhere to safety protocols.
- Work in confined spaces and at heights when required.
- Collaborate with supervisors, fitters, and other trades to meet project deadlines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in stick welding (SMAW) on tanks or pressure vessels.
- Ability to pass site-specific weld tests (including 6G or positional tests).
- Strong understanding of welding symbols, WPSs, and quality standards.
- Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and Confined Space certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overtime if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or industrial settings.
- Familiarity with tank erection, repair, or maintenance.
- Additional certifications (e.g. hot works, MEWP, working at heights).
