Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Building Technician to join our facilities management team in Dublin. This role requires a multi-disciplinary professional capable of maintaining and repairing various building systems across commercial properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal building performance, tenant satisfaction, and compliance with Irish building regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Conduct regular building inspections and identify potential issues
- Execute minor building repairs including carpentry, painting, and general handyman tasks
- Maintain building fabric, including windows, doors, flooring, and fixtures
- Respond promptly to tenant requests and emergency call-outs
Technical Systems Management
- Monitor and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Service fire safety systems, emergency lighting, and security systems
- Perform basic electrical work including lighting repairs and socket installations
- Maintain plumbing systems, including taps, toilets, and drainage
- Assist with lift maintenance coordination and minor repairs
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work complies with Irish building regulations and safety standards
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logbooks
- Support statutory testing and certification processes
- Implement health and safety protocols in accordance with Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Participate in emergency response procedures
Essential Requirements
Qualifications & Certifications
- Trade qualification in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical discipline
- Safe Pass certification (mandatory)
- Manual Handling certification
- Working at Height certification preferred
- Valid Irish driving license
Technical Skills
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in building maintenance or facilities management
- Strong electrical knowledge (safe isolation, basic wiring, lighting systems)
- Plumbing competency (pipe repairs, fixture installation, drainage)
- HVAC system understanding (filters, basic diagnostics, temperature control)
- Basic carpentry and general building repair skills
- Computer literacy for maintenance management systems

- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills with tenants and contractors
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Professional appearance and customer service orientation
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends for emergencies
Desirable Requirements
- Additional trade certifications
- BMS operation experience
- Fire safety system knowledge
- Previous commercial property experience
