Mellow Spring Childcare Service is currently seeking to employ a part-time morning Cook to join our busy, community-based early years setting. This is an 8 week contract for July and August 2025 only.
This is a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the children in our care by providing nutritious and appealing meals in line with childcare standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and produce meals daily for children aged 6 months to 12 years.
- Ensure high standards in the production, presentation, and service of food.
- Plan weekly menus that meet the nutritional needs of children, including babies and children with allergies or dietary restrictions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HACCP records.
- Serve and store meals safely and hygienically.
- Receive and check food deliveries, maintaining records of inventory.
- Carry out regular stock takes and order food supplies as needed.
- Ensure kitchen and dining areas are cleaned thoroughly and meet hygiene standards daily.
- Cater for special events outside of regular working hours on occasion.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A minimum of FETAC Level 5 in Professional Cookery or equivalent.
- At least 2 years’ catering experience, ideally in settings involving large groups.
- Up-to-date HACCP training and a strong understanding of food safety standards.
- A good knowledge of menu planning and child nutrition, especially for early years.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Initiative and forward planning skills to anticipate the needs of a busy kitchen.
- Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours events.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From €14.00 per hour
