We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join Red Hat's Content services team on an exciting journey to improve the customer experience through Insights. The Content service is used for managing repositories and RPM packages for RHEL hosts, and is accessible via console.redhat.com. We are looking for someone with experience in building services end to end, along with a curiosity and passion for learning. As a member of the Content team, you will work in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, figuring out how things work and solving hard but rewarding problems. Successful applicants must reside in EMEA, in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
Design, develop, and test new features for the Content service
Contribute to the end-to-end delivery of the service - frontend, backend, testing and operations
Proactively contribute to improve developer experience by automating processes, improving CI/CD, and keeping the code clean
Communicate with peer engineers within your team and Red Hat and mentor junior team members
Collaborate with Support, Product Management, User Experience, and Documentation teams
What you will bring
Experience developing software professionally
Experience programming with Python or Go (preferred)
Deep knowledge of frontend technologies (React, TypeScript) and design systems (e.g. Patternfly)
Experience with testing UI for example Cypress or Playwright
Knowledge and curiosity about how package updates work in Linux
Strong problem solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a distributed team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
