Overview

Join the team building the engineering backbone behind Microsoft’s AI-first transformation! Come be at the center of Microsoft 365 and help shape the future of Engineering Systems at Microsoft! The Engineering Systems 365 (ES365) Test Automation team owns the tools powering the end-to-end code validation systems for all Office and Substrate developers. Our systems are key to ensuring that code changes move quickly and efficiently from inception to release with provable high quality, at scale, across multiple endpoints, platforms, and device form factors – all while managing costs responsibly. It is our job to make development of the largest software projects on the planet as safe, straightforward and efficient as possible. We’re doing so by moving away from proprietary, internal-only tools and instead investing in One Microsoft solutions and embracing industry-leading tools and platforms. If you're excited by high-impact problems, deep technical systems, and the opportunity to influence how Microsoft builds and ships AI-enhanced products, this is the role for you!

In this role, you’ll be part of a cross-regional product management team, working closely with PM peers in Redmond and a local engineering team based in Dublin. We need a Principal Product Manager to help us shape the vision for M365 (Substrate) and Office Test Automation systems and then partner with our engineering team, our partners, and our customers to deliver on that vision. Our customers want to lower the cost of understanding, improving and maintaining the test coverage in existing products, especially as AI-assisted development rapidly increases the rate of change in these codebases. At the same time, AI-centered products and features, representing the future of our businesses, require entirely new methods of product validation. Innovation is a requirement of success.

This is a high visibility role with focus on big transformations and large gains. Our work is a true force multiplier, where small efficiencies translate to months of developer time saved, and large efficiencies have transformational impact on Microsoft’s bottom line. You’ll have engineering leaders from across the company invested in your success. You’ll work together with the team and other thought leaders at the company to deliver tools, services, and experiences enabling product teams to continuously deliver high-quality improvements and innovations to Microsoft’s immense customer base. Looking ahead, a major focus area will be applying AI to transform how engineers validate and debug their code. We’ll also enable our customers to create and ship AI-centered products which are performant, reliable, accessible, secure, and trustworthy.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.
