Red Hat is looking for a Product Owner to join the RHEL Lightspeed team and help drive the development of cutting-edge, AI-powered tools. You’ll serve as the connection between engineering, product management, support, and go-to-market functions, ensuring that development priorities are aligned with both Red Hat’s long-term strategy and immediate customer needs.
In this role, you will work closely with a talented team of engineers building next-generation solutions using Generative AI, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and Red Hat’s open source ecosystem. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across AI/ML, cloud, product, and customer-facing teams to define and refine a roadmap that delivers value through scalable, production-grade automation tools.
What you will do:
- Lead backlog management and prioritization for the RHEL Lightspeed team, ensuring clarity and alignment across features
- Partner with Product Management to translate customer and business needs into actionable, well-scoped work for engineering
- Work with engineers to break down epics into stories or tasks, define acceptance criteria, and guide sprint planning.
- Clearly articulate product vision and priorities to the team, helping remove blockers and enabling autonomy and execution velocity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Documentation, Support, Customer Success, and Marketing to ensure smooth delivery and feedback loops.
- Proactively engage with upstream and downstream stakeholders and channels, acting as a bridge between internal teams and open source communities.
- Provide visibility through delivery timelines, roadmap updates, and stakeholder communication.
- Drive iteration based on continuous feedback and insights from metrics, users, and technical contributors.
What you will bring:
- Strong prioritization skills with the ability to balance technical constraints, business goals, and customer impact.
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tooling (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, OpenDataHub), and an interest in AI-powered automation and system administration tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively across engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Experience in open source software development and distributed, global teams.
- Hands-on understanding of Linux systems, ideally RPM-based distributions like RHEL.
- Technical familiarity with inference optimization libraries (vLLM, DeepSpeed, OpenVINO).
- Contributions to open source communities or public technical artifacts (e.g., GitHub repos, blog posts, conference talks).
