Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Tool Maintenance Lead to support our automotive metal stamping operations. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving progressive and transfer stamping dies to ensure optimal production performance and part quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on stamping dies used in high-volume automotive production.
- Troubleshoot die-related issues on the press line and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble dies using precision machining tools and techniques.
- Modify tooling to improve part quality, reduce cycle time, or accommodate engineering changes.
- Operate manual and CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders, EDM) to fabricate or rework components.
- Maintain accurate records of tool maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve tooling issues and support continuous improvement.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in tool and die maintenance, preferably in automotive metal stamping.
- Strong knowledge of progressive and transfer die construction and function.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, tool drawings, and GD&T.
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, indicators).
- Experience with machining, welding, and hand-fitting techniques.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with press line operations and die setting.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design or modification.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
