About the Job:
This is an exciting role to support people who use our services to improve their wellbeing through exercise, nutrition and health promotion. You will work as part of the Client Development team. This team are an integral part of Dublin Simon Community and work with our clients around training, education, personal development and employability. You will work closely with other services in Dublin Simon Community including our emergency, housing, treatment and regional services as well as our fundraising and communications team.
Working hours and Location: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm; multiple sites – main office location in Chester in Dublin 7 but there is a requirement to do groups in our other services and external venues.
Contract Type: 10-month fixed term contract
Salary: €36,500 DOE
Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and oversight alongside Client Development Supervisor of pa rt- time volunteers who volunteer their time to enhance the programme e.g. Mindfulness facilitators, yoga etc.
- Work closely with manager to develop scorecards and strategies for the service.
- Coordinate Health & Fitness programs.
- Work in conjunction/partnership with fundraising on the promotion and media around the health & wellbeing activities.
- Facilitate health & wellbeing programmes including healthy eating, walking group, hikes etc.
- Assist with other Client Development groups as required.
- Complete reports as required for Client Development manager.
- Maintain and update filing systems and databases.
- Work with the Client Development full-time volunteers supporting them to deliver the activities across the services.
- To engage with and build a professional trusting relationship with clients across Dublin Simon Community treating them with dignity and respect in order to work within the values of Dublin Simon Community.
- Proactively engage with staff in services to encourage clients to participate.
- To develop and implement an action plan that will promote and embed a culture of a healthy lifestyle throughout the organisation for those who use our services.
- To develop and facilitate activities that respond to the needs of those who use our services and upon request by managers of services.
- To assist staff across the organisation with the development and facilitation of health programmes ensuring there are structured group activities and individual activities for all clients.
- To develop and maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with relevant health, wellbeing external agencies in both the voluntary and statutory sector.
- To perform as a full team member supporting colleagues, participating in effective handovers and communicating promptly in order to ensure effective working relationships.
- To attend internal/ external meetings such as team meetings, working groups and planning days as required by the various teams within the organisation.
- Ensure clients are consulted and involved in the operation of the project as far as possible through the client groups i.e. client feedback, residents’ meetings.
- Work with the management to measure the impact the activities have on the life of the individual clients and work with clients in a tangible way to achieve positive outcomes.
Required Certifications:
- A recognised third level qualification to at least degree level in: Community Development, Education, Adult Education, Psychology, Social Care, Project Management, Fitness and wellbeing instructors' registrar with Reps Ireland Professional, Personal Development programmes or a related discipline.
- Experience of working with disadvantaged groups, project development, stakeholder relationships and group dynamics.
- Knowledge in Health and Wellbeing programs and how to deliver these programs.
- Knowledge of the Client Development Service and its projects and why people become homeless and the needs they have.
- Experience of working with disadvantaged groups.
- Good active listening, assessment, engagement and feedback skills Work in the best interests of clients Promote clients’ choice, development, independence, health and well being
