The Pulmonary Function Technologist is a valuable member of the Respiratory Diagnostics
team within the Division of Respiratory Medicine. The Pulmonary Function Technologist
performs a variety of pulmonary diagnostic procedures in the ambulatory setting.

Here's what you'll get to do

  • Perform routine and special pulmonary diagnostic procedures
  • Obtain the best effort and cooperation from the patient for reliable test results
  • Select the best data for reporting according to published standard criteria
  • Maintain the work area in a safe and tidy condition
  • Maintain and update the scheduled calibration on all equipment used in the
laboratory
  • Assist the Lead Technologist to maintain and/or order lab supplies and prepare
monthly workload statistics
  • Provide education in pulmonary technology to Fellows, Residents, and Medical
Students
  • Assist and participate in respiratory research

Here's what you'll need

  • B.Sc. in a Biological Science or equivalent
  • Registration or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of
Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Technologists (C.A.C.P.T.)
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Minimum one year experience with all aspects of pulmonary function testing
  • In depth knowledge of respiratory anatomy and physiology
  • Experience in Pediatrics is an asset
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and efficient time management
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Basic proficiency in computers
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity &
