Job Brief:
Equilume, an animal biotech company that develops science-based performance lighting products to optimise equine and bovine health, fertility and performance, is seeking a suitably qualified post-doctoral researcher to assist in management of research projects. This key role involves the design and development of projects; research grant writing; managing budgets and resources; working effectively with team members, partners, funders and other stakeholders; overseeing delivery and dissemination of high quality research via manuscript preparation and conference attendance; and ensuring that the research underpinning current and new product development meaningfully impacts animal health and welfare.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute assigned research projects
- Data management and analysis
- Prepare grant proposals.
- Supervise team members/graduate students to complete research projects within set timelines.
- Track project progress periodically and report same to management.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication of research results and presentation at scientific conferences.
- Work with management in preparation of research project budgets and schedule.
- Ensure that research deliverables meet quality standards and that research projects have relevant institutional and national approvals.
- Stay abreast of latest developments in relevant research tools and techniques.
- Stay up-to-date with research literature from the field.
- Identify and propose new research opportunities to management.
- In collaboration with senior R&D staff, support the development and training of the wider team.
- Analyse and resolve research issues promptly and accurately.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Equilume’s research, innovation and product development strategies.
- Represent Equilume at relevant national and international events and scientific meetings.
Key requirements and skills:
- PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (biology/health science/agricultural science/ animal science, veterinary science) with at least two years post-doctoral research experience in an academic or commercial organisation.
- Strong track record in scientific manuscript preparation and research publication with at least two senior author publications in relevant peer reviewed journals.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, that ensure work is effectively prioritised to meet deadlines.
- Experience of qualitative and quantitative data analyses.
- Competent in use of statistical analyses packages (R or SAS).
Desirable:
- Animal handling experience with equine and bovine
- Track record of successful experimental design and research project management.
- Experience of functional genomics laboratory techniques (some or all of RNA isolation, qPCR, RNAseq etc.) and hormone assays (RIA and ELISA).
- Ability to work under own initiative with a proactive approach to problem solving.

Pay: €45,000.00-€65,000.00 per year
