Position Description
We are seeking a talented Geospatial / Civil / Construction Management Engineer with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in the route selection, design, and construction of underground cable linear assets.
In support of ESB’s strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity, building resilient infrastructure, and empowering clients, you will collaborate with our team to provide underground cable route selection design, consenting, stakeholder management, and engineering solutions to ESB Networks and other clients on high voltage transmission and distribution projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop underground cable routes from feasibility to detailed designs as part of a large team of professionals.
- Manage stakeholders through consultation, engagement, and negotiation with private landowners, public authorities, and statutory stakeholders.
- Provide technical support on material quantities, calculations, and design reviews.
- Produce technical reports and drawings using CAD Software.
- Undertake land surveying, data processing, and production of various design drawings including route plans/sections and construction drawings.
- Produce legal notices and commercial tender documents with the support of senior professionals.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Level 8 Geo Spatial / Engineering Construction Management Degree or equivalent qualification.
- 3+ years relevant post-qualification experience.
- Strong awareness of health and safety legislation to support the ESB Safety Culture.
- Knowledge in the use of modern topographic survey equipment and expertise in using CAD systems to detail and communicate engineering designs.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills including stakeholder management.
- Strong ability to prioritise work with excellent organisational skills and quality management.
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.
Desirable
- Experience in the development/design and construction of linear infrastructure projects such as underground cables.
- Experience using GSI software such as ARCGIS.
- 3D CAD capability.
Location
This position will be based in One Dublin Airport Central or Eastgate, Cork.

Salary
€48,000- €56,000 per annum.
