SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in working on and delivering Automation projects of varying complexity. The candidate will be capable of being part of, or leading cross-functional project teams and liaising with other key personnel including senior management to ensure the successful completion of those projects.
Responsibilities:
- Proficient in the use of PLC packages mainly Beckhoff preferred. (Allen Bradley & Omron beneficial)
- Have excellent fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Design and execute control systems for Industrial Automation equipment, from concept to debugging PLC programs.
- Installing and validating new or upgraded equipment into operation assisting validation team
- Work as part of the Digitalisation team to work on Merits factory of the future project
- Ensure compliance with and maintenance of SOP's and technical documentation.
- Develop and execute upgrades on current equipment to improve functionality, output & safety etc.
- Manage external relationships with technology providers & integrators.
- Design test equipment and create validated test procedures for process testing to demonstrate compliance with internal and external requirements such as ISO standards.
- Leads design activities with internal and external contributors.
- Support and communicate effectively with the Automation Manager with defining work packages, planning, and organising automation activities.
- Capable of working independently to scope, investigate and identify key technology drivers to complex automation challenges.
- Identify improvement opportunities and provide business case analysis to quantify and justify automation projects.
- Analysis of data from proof of concepts, leading to the development, implementation, and verification of approved solutions & technology.
- Development of detailed URS documents, engineering documents & protocols.
- Carry out detailed design reviews with external vendors on custom automation solutions.
- Support systems for machine networks to ensure site backups and recovery procedures.
- Provide support to run and maintain the automation systems in production.
- Safety and Integration of equipment to be carried out as per Merit Medical best practice, delivering CE standard equipment to Merit Group.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Third Level, Level 8 Degree or higher in Controls, Electrical, Electronic, Engineering or related discipline and desirably with experience in a similar role.
- Over 6 years' experience in an Automated environment with a proven track record of success.
- Knowledge of medical device processes with a good understanding of product and process design.
- Experience with CAD packages beneficial
- Industrial automation design experience.
- Knowledge of Industrial Automation/Robotics.
- Vision System experience
- Ability to set up and execute experiments in a lab setting to close knowledge gaps. Proof of Concepts (POC)
- Dynamic team player and can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.
- Enjoy the challenge of problem solving and identifying well thought through practical solutions.
