Codema are currently hiring for a Senior EU Project Manager to join their team.

About The Role:

We are excited to announce that we are recruiting for a dynamic Project Manager to lead the management of a large European funded project researching and delivering renewable energy. They will also have the opportunity to play a key role in identifying and developing future opportunities and projects, contributing to the company’s growth and innovation initiatives.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • An experienced project leader
  • knowledgeable in EU funding and compliance
  • Communicator and relationship builder
  • Strategic in their thinking
  • Organised and detail-oriented
  • Project Leader
  • Adaptable and solutions focused
  • Passionate about sustainability and innovation

What You Will Do:

As Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of large-scale European-funded projects. Your role will involve developing and managing comprehensive project plans — including task dependencies, resource allocation, timelines, and milestones — and ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and time constraints. You will also collaborate with the wider Project Management team to oversee other externally funded initiatives.

A key part of the role will be building strong relationships and communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including Local Authorities, Universities, Government Departments, private consultants, and the European Commission, to ensure alignment with project objectives and compliance requirements.

You will coordinate internal teams to deliver project outputs, implement quality control measures, and maintain consistency with project standards. Additionally, you will proactively identify funding opportunities and contribute to the development of high-quality project proposals that support the organisation’s strategic priorities and implementation goals.

Project Management Tasks:

  • Lead the delivery of the GEMINI project on behalf of Codema, the Lead Partner, ensuring alignment with the approved funding agreement and PEACEPLUS programme requirements.
  • Act as the project manager for a cross-border consortium of public-sector partners, overseeing the delivery of all project work packages and milestones.
  • With support from a project co-ordinator, manage all project reporting, including financial claims, progress reports, and monitoring returns, in compliance with SEUPB guidelines
  • Oversee procurement processes in line with EU and national public procurement rules.
Build and maintain productive relationships with consortium partners, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and community representatives.
  • Monitor project risks, timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring proactive responses to emerging issues.
  • Provide strategic guidance and operational leadership to ensure the successful completion of this complex, multi-jurisdictional infrastructure project.
  • Represent the GEMINI project at key programme events, technical forums, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Report to the PM team on progress, resourcing needs, risks and budgetary matters

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in project management, with a strong track record of delivering complex, multi-partner or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience managing EU-funded or other large grant funded projects, with an excellent understanding of reporting, compliance, and procurement obligations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders, including public bodies, EU institutions, project partners, and community or sectoral stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying issues, assessing risks, and implementing practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and presenting clear, structured reports to senior management and funders.
  • Proven ability to design, present and host large workshops and meetings
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate activities across multiple jurisdictions and deliver results within defined timelines.
  • A relevant third-level qualification (e.g. in project management, engineering, environmental science, public administration, or a related discipline).
  • Proficiency in standard project management tools and software, including SharePoint, and other collaboration platforms essential.

Additional skills that would be a distinct advantage

  • Experience working on cross-border or transnational projects, particularly under the PEACEPLUS, INTERREG, or Horizon programmes.
  • Knowledge or experience of renewable energy and broader sustainable energy infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with the operational structures of the Interreg Joint Secretariat or similar funding authorities.
  • A formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile certification).
  • Experience managing public procurement in line with EU and national guidelines.
  • Understanding of policy and funding landscapes for climate action, energy, or infrastructure in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
