  • Support the commissioning process by issuing instructions and confirming that transmission system readiness criteria are met.
  • Liaise with engineering vendors, customer representatives, and internal stakeholders across the full project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with engineering peers to address technical challenges, ensure design intent is maintained, and escalate issues as required.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff and represent the engineering team during project meetings and reviews.
  • Lead and document Stage Gate Reviews and Lessons Learned exercises following project energisation.
  • Contribute to formal project audits and reviews and support ongoing quality and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in interface activities with partner organisations, ensuring consistent communication and technical alignment.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
  • Minimum 4-5 years' post-qualification experience in electrical engineering roles.
  • Hands-on expertise in transmission substation design at 110/220/400 kV.
  • Proven experience in reviewing substation designs and technical specifications.
  • Expertise in conducting on-site construction inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the commissioning of transmission infrastructure.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, particularly for reporting and issue resolution.
  • Full driver's licence, with flexibility to travel to sites as needed.

Desired / Nice to Have

  • Experience working within or alongside TSO or DSO organisations.
  • Familiarity with functional specification development for HV plant.
  • Knowledge of Stage Gate project management or equivalent engineering assurance models.
  • Exposure to interface management between utilities, vendors, and design contractors.
  • Experience facilitating or participating in technical audits or external project reviews.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience
  • Paid overtime available, depending on project demands
  • Flexible working hours may be accommodated in line with project requirements
  • Opportunity to work on a high-profile critical national infrastructure project with a collaborative, technically strong team
