Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel / Data Protection Officer to be based in our Dublin, Ireland office. This role will serve as the designated Data Protection Officer for ZoomInfo and its affiliates' global operations in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The successful candidate will work at the intersection of law, privacy, and technology, providing critical guidance to ensure ZoomInfo maintains the highest standards of data protection and privacy compliance across its operations worldwide.
Primary Responsibilities
Data Protection Officer Duties
- Serve as the Company's designated Data Protection Officer in accordance with Article 37 of the GDPR.
- Provide expertise in European data protection laws and practices, including maintaining an in-depth understanding of the GDPR.
- Monitor compliance with European data protection regulations and advise the organization on obligations.
- Advise the Company’s leadership with respect to compliance with European data protection laws, monitoring specific processes such as data protection impact assessments.
- Fulfill notification requirements to data protection authorities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for supervisory authorities on data protection matters, and collaborate with supervisory authorities as necessary.
- Coordinate responses to data subject rights requests and privacy inquiries.
- Support the Company's commitment to education, transparency, and upholding individual rights to privacy.
Legal Advisory Role
- Provide strategic legal advice on privacy and data protection matters to product teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support the Company's privacy-first approach to business data collection, processing, and use.
- Review product features, marketing materials, and customer communications to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Prepare and review privacy notices, consent mechanisms, and data processing agreements.
- Advise on international data transfers and localization requirements.
- Support due diligence for potential acquisitions and partnerships
- Help to develop and implement a global data protection strategy aligned with UK Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, and other international data privacy laws.
Qualifications
Required
- Law degree with admission to practice law in Ireland or equivalent EU jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 8+ years of professional legal experience, with at least 5 years specializing in privacy and data protection law.
- Expert knowledge of data protection law and practices, particularly the GDPR.
- Knowledge of AI governance and compliance.
- Experience with SaaS or technology companies.
- Thorough knowledge of how organizations process personal data
- Experience advising on privacy matters related to B2B sales and marketing activities, and/or advertising technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong project management and organizational skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Preferred
- Additional qualifications in privacy or data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CDPO)
- Experience as a designated DPO under GDPR.
