Senior Medical Scientist (Permanent contract 35 hours per week)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Medical Scientist to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway, Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Job Purpose:
To participate as a Senior Medical Scientist, in providing a high quality and efficient multi-disciplinary laboratory service to Consultants, Doctors and their patients at Bon Secours Hospital, Galway.
Ideal Candidate:
The ability to analyse and resolve problems, work independently and priorities tasks
Be familiar with Biochemistry testing and point of care analysers and Interfaces
Have experience in the validation and implementation of new analytical equipment and methods
Be familiar with electronic information systems in place and under development and be proficient in the use of information technology systems within the laboratory
Demonstrate effective communication skills including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
Have excellent Integrity, teamwork and organisational skills
Responsibilities and Experience:
This Senior Medical Scientist post holds particular responsibility for the Management of the Biochemistry/POCT department in the Laboratory.
Perform routine, specialised and research/development work to the highest professional standards, as determined by the Laboratory Management Team.
Have a working knowledge and experience of ISO15189:2022 accreditation standards, demonstrating a focus on quality patient centred services
Writing, maintaining and revising the Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Guidelines.
Participate in the introduction of new ideas, methods, equipment and procedures that are deemed necessary in co-operation with the Laboratory team
Promote patient safety and ensure data accuracy.
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years post qualification experience in a Medical Laboratory
Be registered on the Medical Scientists Register maintained by the Medical Scientists Registration Board at CORU.
Possess a NFQ Level 9 post graduate qualifications or equivalent qualification at minimum Level 9 validated by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine
