Supply Chain & Retail
Supply Chain Services provides both pre-wholesale and wholesale distribution of pharmaceutical, healthcare and animal health products to pharmacies and hospital nationwide. The business supports a diverse customer base through the provision of strong service levels coupled with innovative commercial initiatives. In addition, the business provides services and supports that help independent community pharmacy to compete more effectively in an increasingly difficult environment and runs a network of Uniphar-owned pharmacies under the Life, Allcare, McCauleys and Hickeys symbol brands.
Pharma – On Demand
The On-Demand business is a specialist medical supply business that sources and distributes pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and consumable supplies to healthcare professionals in over 160 countries worldwide. We have offices in Ireland, UK, Europe, USA and New Zealand. The company’s main divisions encompass everything from International Sales through Sales to NGO’s and Charities, Clinical Trials Supply, Imported (Unlicensed Medicines), Sexual Health Supplies, and the storage and distribution of medical products and devices for third parties.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior TechOps Engineer to join our team. This role involves managing, maintaining, and improving our organisation's IT infrastructure while ensuring high levels of system availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with various operating systems, networking, cloud environments, and enterprise-level infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Systems Administration:
- Manage and support on-premises and cloud-based systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software, including servers, storage, and networking components.
- Ensure the stability, security, and performance of IT infrastructure across multiple platforms.
- Monitoring & Performance Tuning:
- Monitor systems' health, performance, and capacity.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Proactively manage patching and upgrades to minimise disruptions to the business.
- Security Management:
- Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to protect systems and data, as laid out by our SecOps team
- Remediate vulnerabilities, ensuring systems are compliant with best practices and relevant regulations.
- Liaise with vendors to plan upgrades to managed firewalls, VPNs, and other security tools.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery:
- Manage backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
- Regularly test and refine recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and rapid restoration capabilities.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Develop scripts and automation processes for system administration tasks using PowerShell
- Collaboration & Support:
- Provide support for escalated issues from Internal Team Members and outsourced L1/L2 Provider
- Collaborate with developers, network administrators, and other IT staff to optimise and streamline infrastructure.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for IT staff and end-users.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a Senior Systems Administrator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows systems.
- In-depth Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with networking and diagnosing issues relating to (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, etc.)
- Hands-on experience scripting using PowerShell.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and security management (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with strong time management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems issues.
- Participate in on-call rota
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Server and Azure Certifications advantageous.
- Experience with containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (SCOM, Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Azure Monitor).
