The Site Director is an integral part of our Management team based out of our Ireland - Sligo site.

The Site Director is responsible for the operation, governance and strategic development of the vaccine manufacturing site in Sligo, Ireland. The facility operates under EU GMP, is licensed by the HPRA and plays a critical role in Phibro’s global supply network. As part of a U.S. multinational, the Site Director is responsible for ensuring safety, quality, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, strategic growth, and alignment with corporate objectives. As the senior leader on site, the individual must have significant experience in people management with demonstrated ability to develop high performing teams capable of delivering defined and diverse objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management: Provide strong leadership and direction to all aspects of the manufacturing site, including production, quality, engineering, EHS, technical services, supply chain and site administration, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for all employees, implementing and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all manufacturing processes, including production, quality control, and maintenance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the site maintains full compliance with HPRA, EMA, and other relevant global regulatory standards. Serve as the senior point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the implementation and adherence to quality assurance programs, ensuring the highest standards of product quality and safety.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives, and operational efficiency to achieve safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, reporting KPI’s and metrics to corporate stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for site expansion, capability development, and new product introductions.
  • Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing leadership team and workforce. Champion a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage the site budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial targets.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to business continuity, compliance, and supply chain disruptions.

Education

  • Master’s Degree (Level 9 Irish National Framework of Qualifications) in a relevant field (e.g., Pharmaceutical Science, Biotechnology, Engineering)
Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Proven track record of managing large teams and complex operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of EU GMP, and other relevant standards.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
  • Excellent knowledge of Irish regulatory environment – GMP, EHS, Legal, Corporate Governance, Financial, Customs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of GMP, aseptic processing, cold chain logistics, and biologics manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and drive organizational change.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience working in a matrixed, multinational environment.
  • Track record of fostering a high-performance and quality-focused culture.
