About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in desktop application development, with preferable experience in Delphi. You will work on the design, development, and maintenance of feature-rich, high-performance desktop software used by a wide range of clients.
This is a hybrid role based in Cork, Ireland, offering a blend of remote work and in-office collaboration. You will be part of a cross-functional team working in an Agile environment, following Scrum methodology for planning, development, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust desktop applications using Delphi (Object Pascal).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a Scrum-based Agile environment to define, design, and deliver new features.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following industry best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Contribute to technical documentation and support existing applications.
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in software development.
- Strong experience in desktop application development.
- Proficiency in Delphi (Object Pascal) or willingness to quickly ramp up.
- Experience working in Agile teams and familiarity with Scrum methodology.
- Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience with databases (e.g., SQL Server, InterBase, Firebird).
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable (Bonus) Skills
- Experience with legacy codebases and modernization of older systems.
- Familiarity with other programming languages such as C#, C++, or Python.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and web services integration.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Exposure to tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
