Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood are seeking a Registered Staff Nurse on a 1 year contract to work as part of a small nursing and care team in it's modern, well equipped 32 bedroom Convent located in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. The Convent is home to 28 elderly and retired Sisters, some of whom require a mix of medium and high dependency nursing care whilst others remain more independent, needing only occasional personal care and support. Candidates should be available to work over a seven day period. Premiums will be paid for night time and weekend work. Regular night time Staff Nurse shifts run from 8.15pm to 8.30 am each day and day time Staff Nurse shifts from 8.15am to 8.30pm. Whilst experience of nursing of the elderly person would be an advantage, we are happy to consider applications from Registered Nurses seeking a change from other areas of care who are looking to work in this field. You must be legally authorised to work in Ireland. We are not currently able to offer visa sponsorship or assistance with re-location.
Main Duties: Reporting to the Care Manager
- Assume responsibility on their shift for all nursing and personal care needs of the resident sisters.
- Plan, book and follow up on medical appointments for the sisters.
- Supervise and allocate duties to the Healthcare Assistants.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to the highest professional and ethical standards.
- Implement and evaluate individualised care plans that meet the sisters needs using the EpicCare software.
- Reflect in practice, the charism and mission of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood.
