As our Mercer OCIO (Outsourced CIO) business continues on a path of growth and expansion, we are seeking talented individuals for the position of Strategic Initiatives Leader for Mercer’s Investment Solutions team in the International region. This position is a senior role within the business and is intended to support and report into the regional Chief Operating Officer of the Investment Solutions business.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior candidate to join the Investment Solutions business which is one of Mercer’s largest and fastest growing areas having seen assets under management in the region surpass $250bn and global assets under management surpass $600bn.
What can you expect:
The role will have leadership responsibility for strategic programs designed to support Mercer’s commercial growth objectives and requires a highly organised and proactive individual with exceptional communications and leadership skills. This role requires a strong strategic mindset, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
The Strategic Initiatives Leader will play a critical role in shaping the organisation's long-term vision and driving its strategic objectives including platform transformation, M&A activity, development of operational solutions for existing and new client segments, global organisation alignment activities amongst other responsibilities.
We will rely on you to:
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives: Lead the identification, development, and execution of strategic initiatives aligned with the organisation's goals and objectives.
- Strategic planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to define the organisation's strategic direction and develop long-term plans.
- Project management: Oversee the end-to-end execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring timely delivery, effective resource allocation, and successful implementation.
- Stakeholder management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, department heads, and external partners, to ensure alignment and support for strategic initiatives.
- People Management: Manage a small team of senior professionals and foster a high performance & high delivery mindset across the team.
- Performance monitoring: Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress and impact of strategic initiatives, and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
- Change management: Drive organisational change by effectively communicating the rationale, benefits, and impact of strategic initiatives to all relevant stakeholders.
- Risk assessment and mitigation: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with strategic initiatives, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
- Continuous improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the strategic initiatives framework.
What you need to have:
- 3rd level qualification or professional qualification hopefully in a related field.
- Sufficient experience in senior strategic planning, project management, or a related field in the Investments industry.
- Proven track record of getting things done.
- Have a strategic mindset and be able to influence at a senior level.
What makes you stand out:
- Asset Management/Investment Management experience is highly desirable.
- Change Management/Programme Management experience would be welcome.
- Data driven decision making capability.
