A pharmacist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy and ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with legal and ethical standards. This individual will manage a team of pharmacy technicians and support staff, providing guidance and supervision as needed.
Key duties and responsibilities of a supervising pharmacist in a busy chemist may include:
- Ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of prescription medications to customers
- Monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed
- Overseeing the processing of insurance claims and prescription refills
- Providing medication counseling and education to patients
- Collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all pharmacy transactions
- Training and mentoring pharmacy staff to enhance their skills and competencies
- Adhering to all regulatory requirements and best practices in pharmacy operations
- Handling customer inquiries and resolving any issues or complaints in a timely manner
