The U.S. Tax Operations team supports the global tax team, and this hire will be one of the first tax team members in Dublin. This role will participate in various recurring workstreams, field inquiries from other teams and the business, and assist with ad-hoc projects. The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be comfortable collaborating with colleagues in both the Dublin office and globally, and be a self-starter that can work independently to drive progress across different workstreams.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Monitor and review the tax implications of corporate actions (e.g., mergers, tender offers) and communicate relevant considerations to the Business
- Prepare and/or review end-of-period closing and reporting for the U.S. withholding tax process
- Monitor the firm’s risk profile related to investments that may generate U.S. trade or business income
- Partner with the Compliance and Risk Controls teams to ensure no negative tax implications to external investors
- Prepare and/or review U.S. tax withholding forms (e.g., Forms W-9, W-8IMY), FATCA/CRS self-certifications, and FATCA registrations
- Prepare and/or review monthly/annual sales tax and property tax returns, and assist with refund claims and audits
- Prepare and/or review annual Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR), quarterly and annual analysis of tax positions and liabilities for the audited financial statements (ASC740), and quarterly IRC Section 163(j) analysis to ensure tax deductibility of interest expense
- Assist with IRC Section 174 compliance and research & development credit calculations and reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements, and support tax automation initiatives
- Collaborate with colleagues across the firm, including portfolio managers, business heads, HR, Legal, Middle Office, and IT
- Assist with implementing management reporting and analysis to help add value to the business
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- 3+ years of experience in a tax, accounting, or finance role at a public accounting firm or within the financial services / asset management space
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
- U.S. tax experience is preferred
- Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and efficiently
- Experience working with remote teams across different time zones
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with senior colleagues across different departments within the firm
- Proven ability to contribute in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, quality, and integrity
- Team player that is excited to work collaboratively and cross-functionally, displaying a client service mindset when supporting other teams across the firm
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple deadlines
- Strong Excel skills
