PACIV, a global leader in industrial automation solutions with offices in Ireland, the United States and Puerto Rico, and serving the Life Science, F&B and Utilities industries, is looking for an experienced AVEVA PI Consultant/SME. This is a site-based role (with some hybrid flexibility).
Role Description - The experienced AVEVA PI Consultant/Subject Matter Expert (SME) will work within the site PI Team and have responsibility for providing high level guidance and developing solutions as required for a large multinational biopharmaceutical manufacturer.

Role Functions
Functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Implement Standards Compliance:- Develop EWI (Engineering Work Instruction on AF/EF Development and deployment)
- Standardize - develop naming conventions across system.
AF/EF Structure Management:- Master the AF structure.
- Include all types of data (Process/Batch/Alarms & Events/Audit) in PI for new integrations.
Event Automation:- Create events automatically in EMDVB, populating tags based on INI file configuration. Remove reliance on EVT files where possible.
- Integrate ALLEVENTS tag per unit with MIAP.
Security - Provide Support for:- Updates to PI database security.
- Direct Standardization of PI security protocols.
- Cleaning up trust connections.
- Removal of PI World access to ensure restricted access.
- Addressing OPC remote connection security vulnerabilities through DCOM hardening.
- Conduct impact assessments and modify DCOM connection types from 'CONNECT' to 'Packet Integrity' on both OPC server and PI Interface server.
Test Protocols:- Assist in Development of standardized test protocol documents leveraging industry standards covering all test scripts for both project and BAU activities.
Asset Consolidation:- Provide Guidance and direction on Consolidation of assets, including servers, backup types, antivirus exclusions, storage configurations, network port details, SPN, and Kerberos delegation details.
Reporting and Training:- Select and Deploy Pilot for best fit reporting application (Rtreports/Aveva Reports/Infometrics) with options for future connection types.
- Guide Development of data visualization solutions using PI Vision Display or reports.
Automated Testing:- Assist in determining opportunities for automated testing using APIs.
Support and Disaster Recovery:- Update SOP-13189 (daily/weekly checks SOP) and associated form (EDES) to streamline processes based on SMT.
- Update the site PI disaster recovery plan (ASMT-1169).
PI Mappings Maintenance:- Tidy up PI mappings, removing direct mappings and ensuring all access through AD groups.
Data Replication:- Implement selectable Replication of data to PI development environment.
History Data Recovery:- Implement separate methods for history data recovery (HDR) based on data sources (e.g., OPC, RDBMS, UFL).
Integration Documentation:- Document connection methods for new equipment integration to PI to standardize processes and improve delivery time.
- Assess the need for DeltaV PI Interface server access training and streamline processes if possible.
- Role Requirements
- Degree qualification ideally in a related Automation, Chemical or Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Computer or other technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience with AVEVA PI systems.
- Understanding of process control, instrumentation and industrial networking desirable.
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., pharma, biotech) is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to formulate thoughts in a clear and concise manner to provide clarity and a path forward on any issues.
