Job Description: Early Childhood Educator & Full day care/ School Age Floater
Role: To support and assist in the provision of preschool and full day
Care and school age care of the highest quality in a holistic setting for
children from 2 years - 12 years of age
Reports to: Megan Cooke & Julieann Maher
Duties and Responsibilities
Be willing to work with children from 2 years – 12 years of age.
Be willing to step in to any position that is required during your day.
Provide support in rooms whether providing non-contact cover or other cover required.
Perform a variety of tasks, such as toileting, nap supervision (where applicable) and engaging in play.
Provide a holistic emergent curriculum based on the interests of the children in the room
Incorporate a variety of approaches into the teaching such as Montessori, High Scope and other teaching methodologies etc.
Provide engaging age and stage appropriate opportunities for fine motor development
Provide engaging age and stage appropriate opportunities for gross motor development
Conduct observations of children under the direction of the manager
Complete & ensure short term plans are on display weekly for your room.
Medium term plans should be completed each month or each term and should be readily available.
Complete Learning Journals for each of your assigned keyworker children – ensure that learning Journals represent each individual child’s learning Journey
Complete daily records for children to ensure effective communication with parents/guardians on the child’s day
Provide detailed communication through WhatsApp for parents weekly inclusive of photographs, activities and news.
Provide information monthly to the manager for monthly newsletter
Ensure all children and families are represented in your room through the family wall, culture wall and birthday wall.
Follow the policies and procedures of the service at all times
Cleaning, tidying and storage of equipment and toys after use
Ensuring toys are regularly sterilised & cleaned to prevent the spread of infection
Co-ordinate the implementation of activities suitable for different children
Maintain room, and equipment, to ensure the health and safety of children at
all times
Ensure a good standard of hygiene
Organise materials and toys to the benefit of children
Support children’s developments – emotional, social, physical, linguistic and cognitive in
carrying out activities
Attend meetings and undergo training as required
Be aware of child protection procedures and advise manager should you have
any concerns about a child
Maintain strict confidentiality, any breach of confidentiality about children or
their families will constitute gross misconduct
Provide a detailed and insightful handover with parents daily
Provide and supervise during mealtimes encouraging healthy eating habits
Ensure positive behaviour policy is in place
Maintaining accidents & incidents as well as ensuring daily records of attendance
Provide first aid care as required
Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: €16.00-€18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
