Fabrication Workshop Supervisor
The Role:
The Fabrication Workshop Supervisor is responsible for managing the operations team to ensure they are working efficiently and safely at all times. Working with the management team to implement the program of works and co-ordinate the day to day activities of the workshop.
Workshop Supervisor – Roles and Responsibilities
1. Production Planning and Coordination
- Create, manage, and adjust daily and weekly manufacturing schedules.
- Prioritise fabrication activities based on project deadlines and site requirements.
- Monitor progress and reassign tasks to meet changing priorities.
- Liaise closely with Senior Management, Project Manager, and the draftsman/detailer to understand project workflow and volume.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet production needs.
2. Workshop Management
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of 6–12 workshop employees.
- Ensure all fabrication work is carried out efficiently, correctly, and to high-quality standards.
- Maintain and enforce workshop rules, standards, and discipline.
- Implement and uphold high safety standards across the workshop.
3. Quality, Workflow, and Compliance
- Maintain high fabrication quality standards and compliance with internal regulations.
- Track production progress using workflow systems (e.g., Tekla PowerFab).
- Identify and act upon opportunities for improving production processes and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operational regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Standards (EN1090, ISO3834 & ISO9001)
4. Material and Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels of materials and consumables.
- Identify shortages early and request stock through the Admin team.
- Oversee proper material ordering, delivery, and inventory organisation.
5. People Management
- Provide clear daily supervision and coaching to workshop staff.
- Manage, motivate, and develop workshop employees to maintain high performance.
- Address performance issues swiftly through corrective action processes.
- Act as a "filter" between staff and management, handling day-to-day queries independently.
6. Administration and Reporting
- Oversee the accurate logging of parts and components throughout production.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of new production systems and software.
- Participate in daily and weekly meetings to adjust plans as needed.
7. Communication and Teamwork
- Work closely with Project Managers to understand deadlines and changes.
- Coordinate with the drafting/detailing team to ensure accuracy and readiness for fabrication.
- Ensure effective communication of priorities, delays, and issues to relevant stakeholders.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Regularly assess workshop processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend and implement solutions that boost efficiency, quality, and safety.
Key Requirements:
ESSENTIAL:
- 5 – 10 years hands on fabrication experience
- Working to engineering standards within medium and heavy fabricated structures
- Experience supervising a workshop team within the industry
- Working in fast paced workshop environment
- Experience with CNC steel processing machines (Drill line, punch, plasma etc) for training and troubleshooting/maintenance purposes
- Experience working in structural steel complying to EN1090

Pay: €40,000.00-€60,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Structural Steel Fabrication: 5 years (preferred)
