We are seeking a permanent, full-time Geospatial Consultant to join our Geospatial Data Analytics team that sits within the Mobility, Cities and Infrastructure Advisory discipline in Advisory & Digital Services, based at our office on 50 Ringsend Road, Dublin 4.

The Geospatial Data Analytics team provides geospatial analysis and remote sensing data services, along with related consultancy, to both external clients and internal Arup teams working across the built and natural environments. We provide digital leadership focused on the design, delivery and governance of digital technology solutions and services, leveraging our capabilities in geospatial data analytics, information management, enterprise architecture, project management, and emerging technologies.

The Mobility, Cities and Infrastructure Advisory discipline brings clarity to complex challenges through robust analysis, valuable advice, and tangible solutions. Our diverse skills (in geospatial data analytics, finance & economics, and strategy & policy for transport and cities) help clients make confident decisions, leading to sustainable and resilient outcomes for the built environment.

Advisory & Digital Services is a multi-disciplinary team that integrates expertise in strategy, design, people, processes, engineering, economics, and technology to deliver innovative, high-quality built environment solutions to our clients.

The Geospatial Consultant will join the Geospatial Data Analytics team, working alongside other Arup digital specialists and within a broader multi-disciplinary team that includes strategy, policy, economics, finance, mobility, cities, and infrastructure specialists.

Deliver high quality spatial insights for interesting projects across a range of sectors

The role involves delivering high-quality services to a range of prominent clients across Europe. Project work spans diverse areas including the Water, Property, Cities, Transport, Energy and Conservation sectors—where innovative geospatial solutions are essential. Projects will range in scale from local initiatives to those of global significance.


As a Geospatial Consultant at Arup, you will:

  • Conduct geospatial data analysis and modelling

  • Define geospatial workflows and models for projects (services, data, and applications)

  • Design and implement geospatial solutions using the Esri Enterprise suite (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online)

  • Co-ordinate geospatial technical work, delegating tasks to junior team members, and quality review colleagues’ work and maintain associated documentation

  • Develop custom geospatial applications and tools using Python, including libraries like ArcPy, GeoPandas, and Rasterio

  • Apply machine learning and deep learning models for advanced remote sensing and image segmentation analysis

  • Stay abreast of current trends, tools, and libraries in geospatial analytics and advocate for their use and implement innovative technologies, where appropriate

  • Recommend innovative integrated data dissemination and visualization solutions to transform spatial data into actionable insights

  • Explicitly set standards and define the quality criteria for Geospatial deliverables

  • Analyse client challenges and tender requirements and propose the delivery of solutions; their component architectures, and automated systems and processes


Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for someone who is passionate about collaborating with colleagues to give our clients insightful spatial analysis for their decision making. These are essential skills and qualifications for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS or a related field

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience providing geospatial solutions

  • Proven experience with the ESRI Enterprise suite and using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to conduct spatial analysis

  • Experience of data management and interoperability standard processes in the built environment (e.g. FME, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud, CAD/BIM packages)

  • Strong development skills in Python, with experience in libraries such as ArcPy, GeoPandas, Rasterio, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch

  • Experience applying ML and deep learning for remote sensing and image segmentation

  • Proficient in designing and overseeing the delivery of Geospatial technical approaches

  • Experience using spatial ETL applications, including FME, for data conversions

We also value:

  • Experience using ArcGIS Enterprise SDKs to create bespoke UX configurations of Geospatial widgets and to run Python based scripts for these applications

  • Scripting for the creation of map widgets using ArcGIS Enterprise

  • 3D visualization experience

  • Experience in the field of Remote Sensing or Earth Observation
