Lead, Platform Engineering

Overview

The Global Network Engineering team (GNE) is looking for an experienced Lead Platform Engineer to plan, build & run its Corporate Network infrastructure.

We’re on an exciting multi-year journey to introduce new technologies and transformative solutions to our global Network to ensure Mastercard’s competitive edge into the future. As an organisation we integrate thousands of customer sites, remote offices and data centers into a single, world-class Network providing an exceptional end user experience.

Role

The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the following areas:

• Implement & maintain Network infrastructure across a diverse range of platforms
• Translate Network designs to implementation plans with associated change control(s)
• Performing onsite & remote implementation activities in addition to implementation oversight with third parties
• Engagement with stakeholders including impacted end users & other technology areas to manage upcoming change
• Transition Network deployments to Operations
• Act as an escalation point for Operations in the resolution of incidents
• Support Architecture teams in the development of new technologies with high & low level designs
• Support the GNE team globally to fulfil its objectives

All About You

The successful candidate will have a technical degree and/or relevant certifications, as well as an expert level of proficiency in most of the following:

• Network engineering, design, operations, and/or architecture expertise with exposure to two or more of the following areas: LAN/WAN, firewalls, VOIP, QoS, Routing & Switching technologies while adhering to standard design methodologies and best practices
• Mastery of TCP/IP protocol communications, addressing & subnetting
• Firewall experience: Palo Alto as well as Checkpoint
• Extensive knowledge of Cisco’s product portfolio; routers, switches & SDWAN
• Extensive knowledge of Aruba product portfolio; switches, ClearPass, APs.
• Extensive knowledge of Network diagnostics, protocols, and disciplines, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, SNMP, VPN, SSH, and MPLS technologies.
• Knowledge of security and encryption technologies including IPSEC & GRE tunnels on routers and firewalls.
• Familiarity with scripting tools such as git, Terraform, Powershell, Python.
• Strong verbal & written communications skills, and excellent customer support capabilities
• Self-motivated demonstrating strong organisational and listening skills; and very detail oriented with the ability to carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• Ability to consistently act in a professional manner and communicate with all levels of the organisation, both internally and externally
