Job Summary
This role reports to the Utilities Supervisor and is responsible for Utility Technician duties focussed on the safe operation of the Site and Utilities Systems owned by the Utilities function. This includes Steam Boilers, Chilled Water, Compressed Air, Cooling Towers, Waste Neutralisation, HVAC systems, LPHW systems, Purified Water, WFI, Clean Steam Systems, Electrical Infrastructure and Life Safety Systems.


Items upon which there is a significant emphasis in these day-to-day activities, are as follows:


Equipment Maintenance
  • Execute permits, review Method Statements, LOTOs, Set To Works, energisation as required.
  • Supervise contractors and vendors executing works on site equipment.
  • Be the de facto communication conduit between changing shifts, with respect to the status of systems or ongoing issues/challenges with equipment operation
  • Liaise across shifts, providing continuity with task execution
  • Respond to alarms, equipment malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Ensure work is completed in a safe compliant manner in accordance with applicable procedures, i.e. handover forms are in place, LOTO, barriers and signage is in use.
  • Co-ordinate and manage contractors in a safe, clear, efficient manner. Challenge under-performing contractors, if necessary, with respect to site operating standards.
  • Member of the Site ERT
  • Attend business critical meetings, project meetings, RCA’s.
  • Use various onsite systems, including Maximo, BMS & PCS, OneLook Permitting System and Drawing Management system.
  • Execute PM and CM Work orders.
  • Cross train on new equipment and roll training out to other Technicians
  • Recommend and implement improvement ideas to enhance the mechanical or electrical maintenance aspects, safety, efficiency of equipment.
Documentation
  • Compliant documentation as described above and as per Amgen’s SOPs
  • Responsible for contribution to JHAs, SOPs, job plan creation.
Experience Required / Qualifications / Key Competencies
  • Minimum qualifications necessary: Time served craft technician skillset
  • Relevant experience in the Pharma industry an advantage but not a necessity
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, prioritise.
