Overview of role:
Senior leadership, responsibility and accountability for strategic and operational management of the Radiology Department. Ensuring delivery of an effective and efficient patient centred radiology service.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities
- Continuous Service and Department growth – ownership, promotion and management of patient referral pathways, establishment of safe patient pathways from multiple sources [Private & Public].
- Oversight and responsibility for the Radiation Safety Program in Aut Even hospital, ensuring the legislative responsibilities of the hospital are met, facilitated and fully prepared for inspection by regulatory and accreditation bodies at all times
- Strategic ownership of Radiology Capital Development – build out of new Radiology Department – future detail design, business case and ROI required relating to other modalities post MRI installation and operationalisation.
- Lead equipment selection, purchase, replacement and upgrade and provide appropriate oversight of an equipment management program and equipment service level agreements with providers to suit clinical, business and legislative needs
- Oversee all measurable clinical and business KPIs and Audit programs/schedules to ensure best in class efficient and safe radiology services are in place and identify gaps and/or opportunities for improvement/evolve on an ongoing basis
- Leading and influencing the Consultant Radiology Group, facilitating their involvement in Radiology operations whilst managing/monitoring their activity as it pertains to the Radiology department and business
- Focused oversight and ownership of the new CT Service – including operational support and completion of periodic reviews of the service
- Work with the implementation team (particularly the Diagnostic imaging Team Lead/build team) to support the planning and implementation of the Electronic Healthcare Record project
- Incorporate the Radiology clerical/admin function into the Radiology Department. Take overall responsibility for its operation, reviewing process and procedure to streamline end to end patient pathways
Financial/Commercial Acumen
- Leadership and ownership of Radiology Business Planning, Capital Projects and Modality Expansion. Facilitating and identifying methods and opportunities for continued revenue growth / clinical activity within Radiology
- Overall Management of Commercials / Contract negotiations/ [MRI/CT/Tenders/Consultant SLA] pertaining to Radiology ensuring value for money and full alignment to UPMC financial procedures such as tender, procurement and insurances
People
- Strategic Workforce Planning – to meet current and future service needs, building a flexible and agile workforce resulting in a dynamic team that can be afforded career progression opportunities
- Provide support and leadership to radiology team members ensuring a high standard of service delivery to meet current and future service requirements/demands
- Ensure adequate training programs are in place for Radiology staff and encourage staff development and progression considering succession planning for key roles
- Complete staff performance reviews setting goals/objectives that consider the individual alongside the departments clinical/business needs
Qualifications & Experience:
- Working full time / 35 hrs
- BSc in Radiography or an equivalent qualification
- A minimum of 3 years as RSM
- Post graduate qualification in Leadership/management desirable
- CORU registration
- Experience of both complex inpatient and high-volume outpatient Radiology services desirable
