Role Overview - Senior Software Engineer (Contract)
Location: Dublin – Hybrid role (Minimum 2 days office based)
This role is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team to refactor existing software products and development processes and tooling and to create state-of-the-art CI/CD pipelines for a portfolio of SaaS and On-premise software products.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of requirements and work in a team to evaluate, design and implement solutions. You will assist the team with requirements and technology choices.
This role is offered on an independent contractor or fixed-term employee, for an initial period of 6 to 12 months, project dependant. Classification will be determined based on the degree of control, autonomy, and nature of deliverables, in accordance with Irish employment law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of end-to-end technical solutions across a range of technologies.
- Proactively identify problems and drive the definition and implementation of effective solutions.
- Translate business and technical requirements into clear, scalable solutions and accurate work estimates.
- Balance strategic thinking with pragmatic, tactical decision-making to ensure high-quality design outcomes.
Key requirements:
- Minimum 7 years as a software developer.
- Significant experience with CI/CD pipelines and development lifecycles for SaaS and On-premise products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication (English).
- Computer science, engineering or other related degree.
Mandatory experience:
- Linux
- Experience with at least one of these languages:
- C++, Java, Rust
- Python, Bash
- Git, Jenkins
Competent in most of the following technologies:
- Kubernetes, Docker
- AWS, VMWare
- Terraform, Ansible
- Robot Framework or PyTest
Useful additional requirements:
- Experience with Kafka, Kafka Streams, Elasticsearch, Redis, Prometheus, Kibana, SQL/RDBMS
- Telecoms signalling protocols: Diameter, SS7, GTP-C, SIP
- Telecoms messaging: SMS, SMPP, MMS
