Role Name – Technical Lead – Risk Data & Architecture
Role Summary:
As the Technical Lead for the Risk Architecture initiative, you will be responsible for shaping and driving the data-related requirements for non-financial risk (NFR) reporting and governance. You will also lead the implementation of data integration and architecture solutions across enterprise platforms for a leading Irish Bank.
This role sits at the intersection of risk, data, and regulatory compliance—helping define how risk and control data from GRC platforms is structured, integrated, and made report-ready across the enterprise. You will work closely with risk SMEs, data engineers, and platform teams to enable consistent, governed, and regulatory-aligned risk data flows. This includes alignment with key data governance standards such as BCBS 239.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the definition of data and reporting requirements for non-financial risk programs, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk frameworks and governance standards.
- Work with platform teams to design the acquisition approach for risk and control data from GRC systems (e.g., Archer).
- Define and validate data models (Tier 2 and Tier 3) to support cross-domain risk reporting, issue management, control testing, and regulatory insights.
- Ensure traceability of risk data elements across source, warehouse, and reporting layers, in line with BCBS 239 principles.
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, and operational teams to understand evolving data needs and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Lead the technical design and architecture for data acquisition from source systems into the enterprise data platform.
- Guide the configuration of data export tools or interfaces and support setup of batch or scheduled processes.
- Provide leadership across technical teams during development, testing, and implementation phases.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to schema changes, feed frequency, data quality, and reconciliation.
- Plan for future extensibility and modularity of the solution to support evolving data and business needs.
Core Competencies:
- Experience in risk, compliance, or governance programs, ideally within a regulated industry (banking). Prior experience in banking or financial services is highly desirable.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Familiarity with enterprise GRC platforms (e.g., RSA Archer) and risk taxonomies.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and regulatory standards (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR , operational resilience).
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to bridge between technical teams and risk stakeholders.
- Strong experience in data architecture, data governance and system integration projects.
- Knowledge of enterprise data platforms, ETL tools, and data modelling techniques.
