We’re looking for a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join us at Lakeside Veterinary Centre, where your professional development and clinical experience will truly flourish.
This is a genuinely mixed role, offering a well-balanced caseload of both Small Animal and Large Animal work. You’ll be based in a modern, purpose-built facility right on the scenic north shore of Loughrea Lake, just 45 minutes from Galway and two hours from Dublin.

Our dedicated support team ensures the smooth running of the practice, allowing you to focus on clinical care, while our fantastic nursing team works alongside you to provide the highest level of service to our patients.
Our facilities include:
- 3 consultation rooms
- 2 small animal surgical theatres
- Large prep area
- Separate large animal examination and surgical unit

Find Your Purpose
- Full-time (40 hrs/5 days per week) – flexible part-time options can be discussed
- 12-month Fixed Term Contract
- Salary up to €61,000, depending on experience
- On-call shared equally: 1 weekday per week and 1.5 weekends in a 5-week cycle
- Practice van provided for farm visits
- Start date: October 2025
Your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and fulfilling, including:
- Large animal farm visits
- TB testing
- Small animal consultations
- Routine and non-routine surgeries

Requirements:
- Must be VCI registered and eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship
- Relevant veterinary experience preferred (we welcome applications from all levels)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work sole charge during on-call shifts
- Valid driver’s licence
