St Joseph's Nursing Home is now recruiting for an Activities Coordinator to join our team.
We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and highly organised Activities Coordinator to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a range of engaging and stimulating activities that enables each resident fulfil their social, cultural, and recreational needs, and to maximise their independence in accordance with their wishes.
Core Responsibilities
Organising and maintaining on a daily basis standard activities which include (but are not limited to) arts and crafts, baking, gardening, flower arranging, newspapers, quizzes, card games, bingo, exercise sessions, walks, hand massages, nail care, arranging hairdressing appointments, and arranging attendance at mass or other religious services.
Planning and implementing special activities which include (but are not limited to) outings, garden visits, birthday parties, Christmas and other seasonal celebrations.
Carry out group and individual sessions as is needed or expressed by staff and family.
Drawing up a daily and weekly program of activities, and updating the resident’’ notice boards.
Maintaining daily files and charts for each Resident that provide clear evidence of the activities planned and carried out.
Ensuring each resident has an up to date and complete “Life Story Book”.
Maintain high level of communication between resident’s family and staff promoting good rapport amongst residents, their families and staff.
Assisting with the orientation of new Residents to then Nursing Home environment.
Attending in-service training and education programmes as may be required.
To assist external activity groups when they are onsite.
Work in any area of the Nursing Home as may be required.
Eligibility Criteria
Previous experience in a similar role within a healthcare or social care setting is preferred but not essential.
Strong organisational and planning skills.
Be fluent in English (verbal and written) and be an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills, self-confidence and organisational ability.
A genuine passion for enhancing the quality of life for older people.
First Aid certification is a plus.
A background in healthcare, social work, or event planning is advantageous.
Be eligible to work in Ireland.
Successful candidate will be subject to garda vetting.
