Job Scope:
The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting in the operations and sales performance of our stores and deputising for the Store Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all staff are assigned to areas and have sufficient tasks to perform each day.
Full responsibility for running of the store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
Train all new store members and ensure that existing / longer serving members are continuously refreshed with product knowledge and customer service standards on a weekly basis.
Assist in the management of all cash and financial administration. As an assistant manager you are required to lead by example with regard to the stringent security requirements of the company.
Demonstrate and deliver excellent standards of customer service.
Develop staff to the standard required by the company in the areas of customer service, product knowledge, attendance punctuality and overall work performance through regular monitoring, feedback and training.
Utilise the shop floor layout guide in store and window planograms to ensure excellent standards throughout the store consistently.
Absence management including back to work interviews.
Be security conscious within the store and stock rooms – monitor potential shoplifters and follow security guidelines to deter pilferage and protect stock.
Be consistently conscious of all aspects of Health and Safety in the store and responsible for ensuring that all staff and store personnel are following policies and procedures with regard to the same.
Develop additional non direct business by keeping abreast of external environment factors.
Deliver excellent store standards consistently in line with Operations audit requirements.
Key holder and call out person in the event of alarm activation.
Any other activities as required in order to ensure the successful operation of the store.
You will be required to be flexible in your position and must undertake such other duties as maybe assigned to you by the company from time to time.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
2/3 years retail management experience (dependent on store grade)
Excellent interpersonal, communication, people management and leadership skills.
Experience in Visual Merchandising desirable
Passionate about the delivery of an excellent customer experience with an understanding of how this drives sales and affects the bottom line
Proficient IT knowledge including Excel, Email, SAP.
3rd Level Business/Retail Management Qualification beneficial but not essential
