Billing Architect

Billing Architect is responsible for the end-to-end billing platform architecture, design, and operational oversight. This role bridges business needs, customer requirements, and technical execution, ensuring the billing platform is robust, scalable, secure and capable of supporting multiple MVNOs with diverse operational needs. In a competitive mobile market, the products and offerings to customers are constantly evolving, this role has to continuously assess the impact of evolving changes to the billing platform both from an application and infrastructure point of view.

Job Responsibilities:

• Architect and design the Billing platform
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and operations teams.
• Collaborate with IP architect, Telco Architect, developers, support engineers, third party solution providers, NTT DATA Network CoE and customers to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions adhering to architectural principles. such as Cloud-native, scalable, modular, zero-trust security principles, telecom regulations, GDPR, maintainability, high availability and future-proofing.
• Define and maintain technical standards, patterns, and best practices for billing platform development and operations.
• Lead technical evaluations of third-party systems, APIs, and integration frameworks.
• Review and approve Change Requests ensuring conformity to architectural principles.
• Oversee billing platform operations, including monitoring, incident management, and performance optimization.
• Conduct capacity planning and sizing to ensure the billing platform can handle current and projected workloads, including subscriber growth, transaction volumes, and service expansions.
• Assess the impact of third-party changes (e.g., vendor upgrades, API changes, host network integrations) on the billing platform and design mitigation strategies to minimise service disruption
• Support incident resolution and root cause analysis for complex MVNE platform issues
• Support the Billing operations team with resolution of critical billing and payment incidents in accordance with established Service Level Agreements
• Support the operations team in conducting root cause analysis of major incidents and publish findings in incident report.
• Keep abreast of advances and changes in the telecoms market (e.g. IMS & eSIM) understanding how these impact MVNOs and the MVNE platform.

Skills:

• Strong background in telecom BSS systems, especially in MVNE environments.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and API-driven platforms.
• Solid understanding of telecom processes, including subscriber lifecycle, rating, charging, and provisioning.
• Experience in capacity sizing, performance tuning, and infrastructure planning
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Excellent communication skills with experience in presenting ideas and strategies to C-level customers and gaining buy-in to strategic initiatives
