Overall Purpose of Job:

We are seeking a Clinical Informatics Project Manager to lead the implementation, optimisation and support of clinical IT systems across the hospital. This role acts as a key link between clinical teams and the IT department, ensuring that digital systems support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have strong project management experience, a solid understanding of clinical workflows, and hands-on knowledge of healthcare IT systems.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:
- Lead or support the delivery of clinical IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives
- Act as a liaison between clinical, technical and engineering stakeholders to translate operational requirements into functional solutions
- Oversee system design, configuration, testing and go-live activities, ensuring alignment with clinical standards, hospital policy and regulatory frameworks
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of clinical IT systems and associated service contracts, ensuring systems remain fit-for-purpose and well-supported
- Support workflow analysis and documentation mapping to improve system adoption and streamline clinical processes
- Collaborate with IT and clinical education teams to develop training content and rollout support materials
- Monitor system performance and facilitate post-implementation reviews, issue tracking, and ongoing optimisation
- Contribute to data governance efforts, including system access reviews, documentation standards and compliance with privacy and security requirements (e.g. GDPR, NIS2, JCI)
- Participate in working groups or steering committees related to clinical systems and health technology planning
- Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders and input into procurement and planning processes for future clinical IT investments
- Plan and coordinate downtime preparation activities for clinical systems, ensuring continuity protocols, communication processes and recovery plans are in place and understood by relevant teams
Qualifications
- Recognised clinical qualification (e.g. Nursing, Allied Health, Medicine) with experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting
- Project management qualification (e.g. Lean, PRINCE2, PMP, Agile)
- Health Informatics qualification (desirable)
Experience
- Proven 3-5 years' experience managing or contributing to clinical IT or digital health projects
- Experience working across multidisciplinary teams including clinical, IT and administrative stakeholders
- Familiarity with implementing or supporting clinical systems such as EHRs, ICU CIS, or other patient care technologies

- Proven track record in delivering or managing healthcare IT projects in a hospital or clinical setting
- Strong understanding of clinical environments, workflows, and healthcare data standards (e.g. HL7, SNOMED CT, ICD)
- Working knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards (e.g. GDPR, HIQA, NIS2, JCI)
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams
