Role Purpose
- Maintain the Irish Life Health and Garda insurance ledgers by actively reducing aged debt and maximising cash collection in an efficient and timely manner
- Preparing, reconciling and posting of weekly insurer payments
- Point of contact for Irish Life Health & Garda accounts
- Dealing with patient, Consultants and staff queries in a professional and courteous manner.
Key Responsibilities
1. Key Areas of Responsibility
1.1 Oversee all aspects of the above account's post claim submission debt to ensure all claims are being actively managed and tracked to final payment close out
1.2 Process pended and rejected claim in a timely and efficient manner from request stage through investigations and additional information collection to resubmission and all the way through to final payment
1.3 Follow up with insurer on all omitted and part-paid claims, unallocated payments, status change updates and rebilling of rejected claims
1.4 Maintain debtor day targets for each account
1.5 Processing of patient refunds both from remittance reconciliation and patient calls
1.6 Where required assist with cover on claims submission, insurance claims to be prepared, checked and submitted to meet daily targets. Ensure all invoices are coded correctly, dates are correctly entered throughout the claim, consultant bills and any other information is attached. All Claims must be scanned and send for collection daily to scanning company or sent by registered post to the relevant insurer.
1.7 Assist with daily cash collection as required.
1.8 Deal with routine calls from patients, consultants and staff. Queries must be resolved daily,or escalated to the Patient Accounts Manager if further action is required. A professional and courteous approach is expected at all times, for both internal and external customers.
1.9 Utilisation of Excel and Word processing skills to maintain up-to-date spreadsheets and statistics.
1.10 Carry out other such duties as required by the Patient Accounts Manager

2.6 Report all incidents immediately, which may adversely affect a patient, colleague or the Blackrock Clinic.
3. General Expectations
3.1 Account receivable experience if necessary, a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role would be preferred
3.2 Ability to use and utilise Microsoft excel is essential
3.3 Ability to handle patient calls, deal with queries and complaints is essential
3.4 Proven record of debt reduction and working towards targets is essential
3.5 Support the philosophy, objectives and goals of Blackrock Clinic.
3.6 Observe the appropriate lines of authority.
3.7 Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients and the activities of Blackrock Clinic.
3.8 Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in all areas of the hospital/clinic as required.
3.9 The Ward/Unit Manager depending on the availability of locum cover will arrange annual leave; this usually means the holiday periods i.e. Easter, summer and Christmas.
3.10 Participate in developing and providing quality care within Blackrock Clinic.
3.11 Assist in orientation of new personnel.
3.12 Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills and seeks outside educational opportunities.
3.13 Present a professional appearance and conform to the dress, hygiene and infection control policies of the Clinic.
3.14 Is always punctual on duty.
3.15 Flexible attitude to changing work practises
