West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 by John O'Connell, Denis McCarthy and Ger McCarthy and has since grown to a team of over 120 people based in our distillery in Skibbereen, Co. Cork. We are looking for...
We are currently seeking a Distillery Operations Technician to join our team at West Cork Distillers.
You will become a part of our team producing our renowned West Cork Irish Whiskey and Gin products which are distilled and bottled here in Skibbereen and exported to over 70 countries globally.
Full training will be provided, but previous experience in food production, maintenance or a mechanical / technical role would be advantageous. Experience of working with SCADA systems or similar, while not essential, would be advantageous.
The role operates on a four-on, four-off basis, two day shifts followed by two night shifts, followed by four days off on a rolling basis. Working hours are 6am to 6pm, or 6pm to 6am, dependant on the shift.
Shift bonuses paid for weekend and bank holiday work.
The distillery is closed during the Christmas period.
What you'll do
- Preparation and separation of Mash and distillation of 1st Spirit
- Operation of equipment and machinery
- Monitoring distillery output using specific distillery technology
- Evaluate distillate quality
- Ensure relevant and mandatory tracking records are maintained and updated
- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and hygiene is maintained ensuring that the plant is in an 'audit ready' state at all times
- Work closely with the maintenance team assisting in the preparation of equipment for repair & assist with troubleshooting
- Conduct an appropriate handover of operations at every shift change to ensure that continuous production is achieved
- Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times
- Report to the site manager regarding stock of raw material's (e.g Yeast, Grain etc) to ensure continuity of production
What you'll have.
- Leaving certificate or equivalent
- Fluent English to ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to
- Experience of working in a production environment ideally in the food or beverage sector
- Experience of working with production machinery
- Experience of working with production systems, while not essential, would be advantageous
- Experience of working within a shift based role, while not essential, would be advantageous
