JOB TITLE: Duty Manager (Part-Time, Minimum 20 Hours per Week)
VENUE: Theatre of Light
REPORTS TO: General Manager
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Duty Manager will be responsible for the smooth opening and operation of the venue during their allocated shifts. The successful candidate will support the overall profitability, customer service, and presentation standards within the venue, while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all staff and visitors.
This role requires a confident leader with proven experience managing a large team, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective in a busy, guest-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Duty Manager for the venue, ensuring health, safety, and wellbeing of all customers, staff, and visitors.
- Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
- Ensure a customer-first approach throughout the visitor experience.
- Maintain and promote the ethos and atmosphere of the current show.
- Proactively engage with guests, handle concerns, and deliver a positive experience.
- Enforce company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Support recruitment, training, and management of Front of House staff.
- Complete administrative tasks related to staff training, customer service, and duty management.
- Oversee café and merchandise operations in coordination with retail supervisors and senior management.
- Manage private parties (e.g. birthdays) and large-scale corporate events.
- Submit daily reports to Senior Management and stakeholders.
Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in venue management or supervisory role
- Strong IT and Microsoft Office skills
- Proven ability to work independently and use initiative
- Committed to delivering high levels of customer service
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety in live events or venue context
- Experience with cash handling procedures
- Experience in staff training and development

- Pay: Hourly rate commensurate with experience
