Purpose Of The Role:
The EQHS Manager, reporting to the Managing Director, will oversee the development, implementation, and management of the company’s Environmental, Quality, Health & Safety (EQHS) systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and regulatory standards. This role focuses on minimizing risk, driving quality improvements, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. It supports three Irish branches and requires strong leadership and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce reports identifying EQHS KPIs
- Manage safety management systems
- Lead near miss investigations and GAP analyses
- Oversee internal and external audits
- Ensure completion of risk and site assessments/inspections by GM
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and non-conformances, and implement corrective actions
- Own the EHS agenda and collaborate across teams to promote best practices and continuous improvement
- Drive quality through company statistics and management engagement
- Develop and mentor team members
- Collaborate on freight risks and operational queries
- Support environmental initiatives, including the Dachser zero emissions project
- Promote a near-zero error culture across departments
- Ensure compliance with COMAH, ADR, ISO 14001, ISO 5001, and ISO 9001
The Ideal candidate will have:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 3+ years of team management experience
- Ability to lead, work under pressure, and solve problems
- Independent, proactive, and innovative
- Strong influencing, negotiating, and customer service skills
- Skilled in adapting communication to different audiences
- IT literate with attention to detail
- Experience in logistics or similar industries
- Strong knowledge of EHS, Quality, and Environmental regulations
- EHS/Engineering/Science degree
- Experience with improvement projects, change management, and COMAH sites
- Lead auditor for ISO 14001, ISO 5001, and ISO 9001
- Ability to develop EHS culture and foster internal/external relationships
- Full clean driving license and fluent in English
