Kitchen Porter
Duties:
- Ability to operate within a busy commercial kitchen that serves brunch and dinner
- Washing all dishes associated with meal preparation (pots, pans, trays etc) as well as plates, cups, glasses, and cutlery
- Cleaning kitchen space (floors, counters etc). Sanitise kitchen at the end of service
- Helping with food preparation (chop vegetables, handling meat and fish)
- Keep food and supply storage areas organised
- Bring out rubbish bins
- Ability to use commercial kitchen equipment (dishwasher and other appliances)
- To work under the direction of management and head / sous / prep chef
Responsibilities:
- Presenting to work in a neat manner in full uniform as provided
- Be on time to your shift
- Respect all co-workers, bullying of any kind will not be tolerated
- Maintain personal hygiene levels at all times
- Uphold The Grounds values at all times
- Fast learner with an interest in kitchen work
- Ability to stand for long hours
- Adhere to health and safety rules as set out by Environmental health officer (EHO)
- Ability to work efficiently (complete work in a timely manner)
- Ability to independently and unsupervised
- Responsibility to maintain equipment to ensure there is no damage during shifts
- Report breakages, leaks or any issues within your work area of the kitchen that may inhibit your ability to work effectively
Experience:
- At least 6 months experience in a commercial kitchen
Competencies:
- Level 1 HACCP
- A quick thinker, ability to think on your feet and pivot as required (for example prioritise duties based on the kitchen / chefs needs
- Ability to work under pressure
