Job Summary:
Irish Pressings is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machine Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our precision machining facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, team leadership, and production planning. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality output, efficient workflow, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of CNC machinists, programmers, and support staff.
- Plan and schedule production to meet customer deadlines and quality standards.
- Monitor machine performance, maintenance schedules, and tooling inventory.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Train and mentor team members to enhance skills and productivity.
- Analyse production data and generate reports on efficiency, downtime, and output.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen).
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in CNC machining and shop floor management.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming (e.g., G-code, CAM software).
- Familiarity with various materials (e.g., metals, plastics) and machining techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
- Degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with ISO 9001, iATF 16949 or other quality management systems.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Visi, Autoform, etc.).
