Welcome to The Plaza Hotel Dublin with 122 well-appointed ensuite bedrooms, state of the art conference facilities & excellent cuisine.
Over the last 2 years, the entire interior of the 4-star hotel has been extensively refurbished, now comprising of exciting new eateries. The hotel now offers 122 spacious, comfortable and ensuite bedrooms along with a number of large suites. Two large and naturally lit event spaces, together with 4 meeting suites allow for conferences and events of all sizes, ranging from 5-200 people.

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Operations Manager
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the hotel’s infrastructure is safe, functional, and well-maintained. This position involves performing a wide range of maintenance duties to enhance the guest experience, minimize operational downtime, and support the hotel's ongoing upkeep.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, staff areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify and address maintenance issues.
- Respond to daily maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct routine checks and minor repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Replace or repair light fixtures, outlets, switches, furniture, locks, faucets, and other fittings as needed.
- Carry out minor carpentry, painting, plastering, and tiling tasks to maintain aesthetic standards.
- Support with the setup and maintenance of conference rooms, event spaces, and temporary fixtures.
- Conduct daily checks of plant rooms, equipment, and emergency systems such as fire alarms, extinguishers, and exit lighting.
- Monitor and maintain the swimming pool, spa, sauna, and gym equipment (if applicable), ensuring cleanliness and safety standards.
- Assist with the implementation of energy-saving and water conservation initiatives.
- Follow the hotel’s preventive maintenance schedule and ensure logs are accurately completed.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as clearing gutters, de-icing walkways, and maintaining outdoor lighting and signage.
- Escort and supervise external contractors performing repairs or installations, ensuring compliance with safety policies.
- Maintain inventory levels for maintenance supplies and tools; inform the supervisor when reordering is necessary.
- Participate in emergency response procedures (e.g., power failures, leaks, fire alarms).
- Regular painting duties in bedrooms & guest areas & back of house.
- Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, safety protocols, and legal regulations.
- Report any hazards, unsafe conditions, or equipment malfunctions to management immediately.
- Support housekeeping, front office, or other departments with ad hoc requests when required.
- Keep maintenance workshop and storage areas clean, organised, and secure.
